A tweak of the nose without going under the knife? You heard that right. A liquid nose job, AKA nonsurgical rhinoplasty can give you temporary results to tweak the appearance of your nose, but how does it work and why is it so popular?

What is it?

This “liquid rhinoplasty” is an injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler into the nose to temporarily tweak the appearance of your nose. Hyaluronic acid is a temporary dermal filler that when injected can show immediate results.
While this procedure has become popular because of social media, often because of before-and-after photos, it’s not one to be taken lightly. As with all cosmetic procedures, invasive and non-invasive, going to a board-certified provider can offer you not only a safe environment, but a trusted one.

What are the benefits?

The results are not permanent, as the filler gets absorbed into your system overtime, but they may last 12-24 months, or longer if repeated according to Dr. Andres Bustillo of Coral Gables, Florida. The aim of this procedure is to fill in around a bump, make the nose appear more straight or fill in other areas around the nose, but cannot offer a permanent fix.

While a traditional rhinoplasty is often used to correct a deviated septum (AKA displaced nasal septum), this will only mask the appearance. “Fillers can be used to camouflage the appearance of a deviated nose, but cannot correct a deviated septum, which is inside the nose,” Dr. Bustillo shared.

Who isn’t this treatment right for?

If you’re interested in making your nose appear smaller, this may not be the treatment for you. Generally, this is performed for filling in around bumps or smoothing out edges to make the nose overall appear more straight, but cannot make your nose smaller in size.
